iPhone Sneak Peek

Soon you will be able to create and share funny charts and graphs on the iPhone too. The Chart Attack app will be available for the iPhone in a few weeks’ time.  So do existing users need to pay for this new version of Chart Attack? No! The app will be released as an universal app which means that current Chart Attack users will be able to run the app on their iPhones’ at no additional cost once the new version is released. New users will be able to create and share funny charts on both the iPhone and the iPad at the price of one app.

Chart Attack App Now on the iPhone

So how do you transform an iPad app into an iPhone app? You can’t just scale everything down. That would make the text on the charts hard to read and the buttons and controls almost impossible to hit. Instead you need to focus on what is most important and move the less important stuff elsewhere. So for the Chart Attack app the most important part is the charts. The size of the charts must be as large as possible but still there should be room for some controls. On the iPad there is a navigation bar at the top, a chart header where you can see information about the author, the chart view itself and a chart footer where you can see information about the chart. The chart footer is also where you interact with the chart in terms of voting and sharing.

For the iPhone version it was decided to remove the chart header and footer to leave as much room for the charts as possible. Some of the author information is then moved to the navigation bar while the medals overview is moved to a sub view.  A new action button is also placed in the navigation bar. Tapping this button will present the user with the various options of sharing charts and it is also here you add charts to your favourites. One other important part of the Chart Attack app is voting for charts. Voting up or down is therefore kept on the main screen in the lower corners.

Creating charts is almost the same as it is on the iPad. However, it is not possible to display a full chart when creating it. It is therefore made possible to slide the chart to the right to get a full view over the chart. Just slide the chart back to continue the creation of the chart.

So stay tuned – the Chart Attack app will be available for the iPhone next week. Enjoy those funny charts and graphs!
